Pastor John White

Pastor John White

Reverend John White joined the staff as Pastor in January of 2003. Prior to serving First Presbyterian Church, John was Pastor at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, South Carolina.

John is a graduate of Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina, and of Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. John comes from a long line of Presbyterian ministers, and has also served as Pastor of the Henry Memorial Presbyterian Church in Dublin, Georgia. He is married to the former Susannah Gordon of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and together they have four children. John is an avid sports fan and enjoys running, hiking, playing with his children and all kinds of outdoor activities. He also enjoys archeology and history, particularly Civil War history.

"When I think of the Church, the first verse of scripture which comes to mind is John 15:5: ...'I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.' As a church, we must remain, 'connected to the vine,' and we must enable our members in their spiritual growth so that they can grow in their 'connection' as well. My prayer is that the First Presbyterian Church of Jackson will continue to grow in new and exciting ways, and that our members will continue their personal spiritual growth."
